KidneyX: The Future for Kidney Failure Treatment

The Health and Human Services (HHS) and the American Society of Nephrology are working together to create the Kidney Innovation Accelerator, or KidneyX. exit disclaimer icon

Accelerators are programs that help entrepreneurs/businesses bring their products into the marketplace quickly. They typically operate by inviting a group of startup companies to work intensively on their technologies for some time. In this case, HHS will hold a competition in which innovative entrepreneurs will win public-private awards that specifically match the needs of patients and healthcare systems.

KidneyX is designed to speed up the development of new drugs, devices, biologics, and digital health tools involved in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of kidney failure. The anticipation is that new technology/better treatment options will be made available to patients suffering from kidney failure to improve their quality of life and reduce the need for dialysis.

The first prize competition and application process will be announced in 2018. Visit KidneyX.org exit disclaimer icon to learn more.

Keep in mind that if you or someone you know is suffering from chronic kidney disease and are unable to work, you may be eligible for Social Security Disability benefits under section 6.00, Genitourinary Disorders or contact AyudaCon.com for more information on how we can assist with your Social Security Disability application.
